With challenges taking place all day and hourly on Day of Giving, as well as on social media before March 26, there are multiple opportunities to amplify your gift. Follow along with the challenge winners here.

Pre-Day Challenge

Head Start Challenge (Gleam)

Platform(s): Participate by logging in to Gleam
Dates: March 12 through 11:59 p.m. on March 25
Prize Amount: Three winners of $1,000 each

Help your favorite area of NC State get a head start on Day of Giving! Log in to Gleam to see the complete list of actions, such as watching the teaser video or following NC State on social media. For each action you complete, you'll gain an entry, increasing your chances of winning. (Note: Some actions are worth more entries than others.) Three winners will be chosen at random to win $1,000 in bonus funds each for the college, program or unit of their choice.

Hourly Challenges

First Gift

Time: 12 a.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

You’re up, you’re ready, let’s go! The area that receives the first gift of the day will earn a $1,000 bonus.

Most Gifts I

Time: 12 a.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

Gather your Pack for the day’s first giving sprint! The area with the most gifts between 12 and 1 a.m. will receive an extra $1,000.

Most Gifts Outside of N.C.

Time: 2 a.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

Outside of North Carolina, come on and raise up! The area with the most gifts between 2 and 3 a.m. from people living in places that are NOT North Carolina will earn a $1,000 bonus.

Most Gifts II

Time: 5 a.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

The day’s just getting started, and it’s time for another sprint. The area bringing in the most gifts between 5 and 6 a.m. will be rewarded with a $1,000 bonus.

Most Gifts III

Time: 7 a.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

Missed the first two? We’re here for you. Whichever area receives the most gifts between 7 and 8 a.m. gets an extra $1,000.

Top 3 Most Gifts

Time: 8 a.m.
Prize Amount: $2,250 ($1,000, $750 and $500)

This challenge comes with a gold, silver and bronze, just like the Olympics. Sort of. The three areas with most gifts between 8 and 9 a.m. will receive a $1,000, $750 or $500 bonus.

Social: Wolfpack Throwback Challenge

Platform(s): Facebook, X, Instagram (feed or stories)
Time: 8-10 a.m.
Prize Amount: Two winners of $500 each

That haircut? Those cargo shorts? They totally looked good at the time. It’s the memories that matter, right? Post your best throwback photos of your time at NC State, whether that was last year or last decade.

Participate on X or Instagram (feed or stories) by using #GivingPack, tagging @NCState and mentioning the college, program or unit of your choice. Participate on Facebook by posting your photo as a comment on the NC State University Facebook page’s post about this challenge and mentioning the college, program or unit of your choice in the comment. Two winners will earn an extra $500 each for their favorite college/unit.

Most Gifts IV

Time: 9 a.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

Pour another cup of coffee and get ready for a giving sprint. Whichever area receives the most gifts between 9 and 10 a.m. gets an extra $1,000.

University Priorities Power Hour

Time: 10 a.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

This hour is for the individual programs and funds that make NC State special. The area on the University Priorities leaderboard with the most gifts between 10 and 11 a.m. will earn a $1,000 bonus.

First-Time Donor

Time: 10 a.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

Are you new to #GivingPack? This hour’s for you. Make your first-ever gift to NC State between 10 and 11 a.m., and you could be randomly chosen to win your favorite area an extra $1,000.

Most Alumni Gifts

Time: 11 a.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

Whether your class year starts with a “19” or “20,” this hour’s for you. The area with the most gifts from alumni between 11 a.m. and noon will receive an extra $1,000.

Most Friend Gifts

Time: 11 a.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

We love our friends (i.e., those who aren’t alumni, students, parents, faculty or staff but show up for the Pack just the same). The area with the most gifts from friends between 11 a.m. and noon will earn an extra $1,000.

Largest Gift Online

Time: 12 p.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

Gifts of all sizes add up to make a big difference. If your gift happens to be the largest one made between noon and 1 p.m., you will earn a $1,000 bonus for your area of choice.

First-Time Donor

Time: 12 p.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

More than 1,900 very cool donors made their first gifts to NC State on Day of Giving last year. This year, make your own first-ever gift to NC State between noon and 1 p.m., and you could help win an extra $1,000 for your area.

Social: “Red and White Song” Challenge

Platform(s): X and Instagram (feed and stories)
Time: 12-2 p.m.
Prize Amount: Two winners of $1,500 each

“We’re the red and white from State …” C’mon, we know you know the words. Record a video of yourself singing or performing the “Red and White Song” to help your favorite college or unit win.

Most Graduate Alumni Gifts

Time: 1 p.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

Master’s, Ph.D. and DVM alumni, this is your hour. The area with the most gifts from graduate program alumni between 1 and 2 p.m. wins a $1,000 bonus.

Most Faculty and Staff Gifts

Time: 2 p.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

How do we know our faculty and staff go above and beyond? There are many reasons, but here’s one: This is literally the busiest hour of the day. So get ready, because the area with the most gifts from faculty and staff between 2 and 3 p.m. will receive an extra $1,000.

University Priorities Power Hour

Time: 3 p.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

Here’s another hour for our favorite programs and funds. The area on the University Priorities leaderboard with the most gifts between 3 and 4 p.m. will earn a $1,000 bonus.

Most Student Gifts

Time: 3 p.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

If you’re a student #GivingPack today, thank you! This hour is a great way to make your gift go even further. The area with the most student gifts between 3 and 4 p.m. will win an extra $1,000.

Repeat Donor

Time: 4 p.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

Back again? We love to see it. When you make an additional gift today between 4 and 5 p.m., you can be randomly chosen to win an extra $1,000 for your area of choice.

Most Alumni Gifts

Time: 5 p.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

Whether you graduated in the Harrelson Hall days or the real bells in the Belltower days, this hour’s for you. The area with the most alumni gifts between 5 and 6 p.m. will win an extra $1,000.

Pack Pets Challenge

Time: 6-8 p.m.
Prize Amount: Two winners of $500 each

Our pets are part of our NC State family. Whether they’re decked out in Wolfpack gear, running wild or interrupting a Zoom call, they’re here for us when we need them. During this hour, we want you to show us your Wolfpack pets!

Most Gifts V

Time: 6 p.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

We’re bringing it back! The area that receives the most gifts between 6 and 7 p.m. will be awarded an additional $1,000.

Most Parent and Family Gifts

Time: 7 p.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

Parents and families help make our Pack even stronger. The area that receives the highest number of gifts from this group between 7 and 8 p.m. will earn an extra $1,000.

Think and Do Challenge

Date: 7:30 p.m.
Prize Amount: Two winners, $1,000 each

Tune in to the video starting at 7:30 p.m. on dayofgiving.ncsu.edu/info/thinkanddo for a chance to win the Think and Do Challenge! Throughout the video, there will be multiple items with “Think and Do” on them that move on and off the set. This could be a mug, a T-shirt, a poster — the possibilities are endless. As soon as programming begins, start counting how many “Think and Do” items come across your screen! The first two people to submit the correct number of items in the form will be able to direct $1,000 to the area of their choice.

Most Young Alumni Gifts

Time: 8 p.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

You can still call yourself a young alum, but for this challenge, we mean the classes of 2014-24. The area that receives the most gifts from these alums between 8 and 9 p.m. will earn a bonus $1,000.

Top 3 Most Gifts II

Time: 10 p.m.
Prize Amount: $2,250 ($1,000, $750 and $500)

The more winners, the merrier! The three areas with the most gifts between 10 and 11 p.m. will receive a $1,000, $750 or $500 bonus.

Most Gifts VI

Time: 11 p.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

We could do this all day — and we have. One more time! The area with the most gifts in the last hour of the day will be awarded $1,000.

Last Gift

Time: 11:59 p.m.
Prize Amount: $1,000

This is it. If you’re the last person to complete your gift at 11:59:59, you could win a $1,000 bonus for your area of choice.

All-Day Challenges

#GivingPack Passion Match Challenge

Platform(s): Instagram Stories
Time: All day on Wednesday, March 26, until 200 posts are made and the $4,000 threshold is reached
Prize Amount: Many winners; $20 per post until the $4,000 threshold is reached

What area of NC State are you most passionate about? Whether it’s your college, the library where you get your best studying done, or the community center where you found your Pack, this challenge is for you. Take a video or write a message about your passion area and $20 will automatically be given to that area in your honor! It’s that easy. Visit the @NCState Instagram Stories on March 26 and use the “Add Yours” sticker to participate. Don’t forget to use #GivingPack, tag @NCState and mention the college, program or unit of your choice.

This challenge will begin at 12:01 a.m. on March 26 and will run until we’ve reached 200 posts and the $4,000 threshold.

Rules

  • Keep your entries positive.
  • Limit one entry per account.
  • Entries must be made using the “Add Yours” sticker available on @NCState’s Instagram Stories on March 26.
  • Entries must tag @NCState.
  • Colleges and units are not eligible to participate in this challenge. Posts must come from personal Instagram accounts.
#GivingPack Passion Match Challenge Champion

But wait — there’s more! When the threshold is reached for the #GivingPack Passion Match Challenge, the college, program or unit that has been mentioned in the most eligible posts will win an additional $3,000.

Show Us Your Wolfies

Time: All day on Wednesday, March 26, beginning at 5 a.m.
Prize Amount: Two winners of $1,000 each

Wolfpack nation! Spread the Wolfpack spirit on Day of Giving by sharing a photo of you and/or your Pack holding up “wolfies” (making wolf ears with your fingers).

There are two ways to participate: 1) Comment your photo on the NC State University Facebook/LinkedIn page’s post about this challenge and mention the college, program or unit of your choice. 2) You can also enter by posting your photo publicly on X or Instagram (feed or stories), tagging @NCState’s profile on the platform, using #GivingPack and mentioning your college, program or unit of choice in the post. Two winners will earn an extra $1,000 each for their favorite college/unit.

Professional Pack Challenge

This one’s for our Professional Pack. Whether you work at NC State or elsewhere, take a photo of yourself or your team working today. Enter by posting your photo as a comment on the NC State University LinkedIn page’s post about this challenge and mentioning the college, program or unit of your choice. You can also enter by posting the photo publicly on your personal LinkedIn account, tagging the NC State University LinkedIn page, using #GivingPack and mentioning your college, program or unit of choice in the post.

Where’s the Wuf? Scavenger Hunt

Platform(s): X and Instagram (feed and stories)
Time: All day on Wednesday, March 26 (5 Wufs on campus, 1 on website) and in the 1 week prior (4 Wufs around the world)
Prize Amount: 10 winners of $500 each

Students! On Wednesday, March 26, five stuffed Wufs will be hidden across NC State’s main campus and Centennial Campus. Each Wuf you find has a donation value of $500 that you can give to your preferred college, program or unit. Find a Wuf, take a photo with it and post it publicly to X or Instagram with the message: “Hey, @NCState. I found the Wuf! I’m #GivingPack to [insert college, program or unit name here].” Bonus: You get to keep the Wuf! Not on campus? One Wuf has gone digital. Be the first to find the digital Wuf hidden on the Day of Giving website, click the image and complete the entry form to win.

New this year! Four Wufs took a trip around the world! But where’d they go? That’s for you to figure out. We’ll give hints on the @NCState Instagram Stories in the week leading up to Day of Giving. The first person to correctly identify the location of the Wuf will win!

Additional Challenges and Competitions for Students, Groups and Volunteers

Board Challenges

Time: All day
Prize Amount: $12,000

  • The board with the most new donors wins a $3,000 bonus.
  • The board with the highest number of points at the end of the day will win a bonus $6,000 for their unit.
  • The board with the second-highest number of points at the end of the day will win a bonus $3,000 for their unit.
Pack Leader Challenges

Time: All day
Prize Amount: $15,500

  • This year, Pack Leaders have their own leaderboard! The top three Pack Leaders will receive bonuses of $3,000, $2,000 or $1,000 based on the number of gifts made through their referral links.
  • The Pack Leader who raises the highest dollar amount will win $1,000 extra for their chosen area.
  • Six Pack Leaders who successfully complete You+2 will be drawn at random to win a bonus $1,000 each for their area. You+2 means that each of the Pack Leaders has given through their link and has received two additional gifts from other donors through their link.
  • The unit with the most Pack Leaders who complete You+2 will receive a $2,500 bonus.
Student Referral Link Challenge

Date: March 26
Prize Amount: $1,500, $1,000 or $500 for your chosen area + swag

This year, we’re offering a new way for students to get involved on Day of Giving. Current students will receive their own personal, unique referral links. Share your link with friends and family members and encourage them to make a Day of Giving gift.

The first 200 NC State students who earn five gifts from their unique referral links will earn a special NC State swag item.

Plus, the three students who earn the most gifts through their links will earn an additional $1,500, $1,000 or $500 for their areas of choice.

Rules

  • All times listed are Eastern Daylight Time.
  • Only gifts made via the dayofgiving.ncsu.edu website on March 26, 2025, are eligible for challenges.
  • For giving challenges, please select all relevant affiliations each time.
